Oppo Find 7 Review

Design:

Big and beautiful with good form factor

Long and beautiful, shines in your hand. Being 152.6 x 75 x 9.2 mm and 5.5 inches display smartphone you might feel Find 7 to be bigger initially but once you get used to, it does not matter. Big smartphone lover would love it. Made with high quality plastic material Oppo Find 7 looks solid and beautifully crafted. This phone has good form factor, user with small hands would not find difficult to hold and use it with single hand. On titanium-aluminum alloy frame body has been build using polycarbonate.

The smooth and beautiful texture pattern on the back not only gives you better grip but also gives you feeling of holding a premium smartphone. Weighing 171 grams could feel to be little heavy but better builds always come with some price.

Display:

Good and bright while using indoor, not so good for outdoor usage

Blended with high resolutions, Oppo Find 7 comes with 5.5” Quad HD screen display comprising of 2560 x 1440 resolution and 538 PPI (pixels per inch). That’s one of the highest in the market right now. Being on of the brightest display is actually the down part of it. While using indoor its average but while using outdoor you might find it difficult to use the phone and read the contents. Was packing too many pixels went wrong or is it the way it should work? I found display to be really good but at the price of being it too bright which at times is difficult to handle. Oppo used Gorilla Glass 3 to make display for it. It’s good and tough.

Operating System:

“Powerful yet simplistic”

Oppo Find 7 comes with its own ColorOS on top of Android. As of writing this article Find 7 comes with Android 4.3 and is yet to receive KitKat version of Android. ColorOS has some amazing features and is minimal on the phone. I am not fan of too many customization over the stock Android which many of the smartphone manufacturers have done so far. Oppo has not done it! They have tried to keep OS simple yet feature packed so that you will not take days to understand it. Settings have been categorized and it’s easier for user to make changes he wants. For example many times I have found users struggling to make changes to their display or sound settings.

With few awesome widgets for weather, photos and music it’s a lot easier to handle this phone. Double tapping on locked phone state invokes the screen and you can easily unlock the phone, it actually makes easier on big phone to unlock the screen. ColorOS is packed with themes and effects, you might not get bored with your phone’s look.

As said I am not fan of customized UI’s but ColorOS is impressive, very impressive!

Memory and Processor:

“It’s much more than you can handle”

Wow, the word came out of my mouth when I used this phone for the first minute. As smooth as silk! As fast as Usain Bolt ;) For so long we have been compromising smartphone’s performance. Babye to those times. With 3 Gigabytes of RAM and Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AC, 2.5 GHz quad-core processor will give you performance you always wanted, in fact its much more than you handle. No lags while playing heaviest games available. No complains about the performance. Oppo Find 7 sets up the benchmark for highest performance. (Watch our review video in the post for benchmark results).

On board Find 7 comes with 32 Gigabytes of memory. Unlike other flagship smartphone where you don’t have option to upgrade your smartphone’s memory, on Find 7 you can expand storage up to 128 GB via MicroSD.

Camera:

If you are a professional photographer and you missed out your DSLR camera on a trip, you wouldn’t miss it much if you had this phone with you

With 13 Megapixels, camera on Oppo Find 7 will give crisp and beautiful images. With IMX214 CMOS sensor by Sony and f/2.0 aperture you can take good images in low light conditions.

Oppo’s Find 7 is capable of capturing 50 MP with the Ultra-HD “multi-shot feature” and 4K video recording with HDR and slow motion capabilities.

Camera UI is simplistic and friendly to use. You can switch between the modes with no hassle. With on-screen icons, tapping on them would change the mode easily. Kudos to Oppo for this. Camera has modes like RAW, Ultra HD, Normal, HDR and GIF. I enjoyed GIF feature.

I tried to capture pictures and videos both in door and out-door and they were pretty satisfactory. The 5 MP front facing camera is also better than average. I did manage to get good selfies. So if you are a selfie person, you will like the front camera.

And yeah it also has dual LED flash and that’s common these days.

Multimedia:

Oppo Find 7 is embedded with MaxxAudio sound enhancement technology by Waves

Among few features of many that I liked about Find 7, multimedia is one of them. At first looking at in ear stereo headphones I was disappointed though they looked fantastic in build quality. Reason being, I am not fan of in-ear headphones, they are clumsy. At first I tried loud-speakers and I was too impressed by sound quality. Loud and crystal clear and soothing. Later while trying in-ear headphones I was surprised the way they got fitted with no pain and feeling of discomfort. And again sound quality was impressive. Audio quality is one of the best in industry, in short – over and out.

Battery:

Charge fast, and use it for day. Adios long charging hours

With 3000 mAh battery and VOOC rapid charging, Oppo Find 7 will amazing you how fast it charges. Oppo claims that Find 7 will charge to 75% in 30 minutes and it really does. I charged that completely drained up battery to 75% in just 30 minutes. So if you are guy who does not like your phone being tied up to wall charger for long, you gonna love it!

Under the belt of my observation I used Find 7 for 2 days with normal usages like music, browsing and camera and always connected to WiFi. On heavy usage, Find 7 can give you an entire days joy.

Conclusion:

This is smartphone with horse powers. With few cons but many pros, this is smartphone you must try. Though expensive but offers you plenty of features and premium build quality for which you can shed out few extra bucks.
